In the Basic Audio course, students will learn basic audio theory and hands-on skills required to setup, operate, and strike a small- to medium-size event room, and to setup and strike a larger room.

The purpose of the Basic Audio course is to teach students how speakers, processing equipment, and sources such as microphones work together to complete an audio system. Students will learn how to setup, operate, and troubleshoot audio equipment used in live events.

If you have a general understanding of audio equipment and are interested in advancing your skills in the live event audio technology, then this course is for you.


After taking this course you will have knowledge on how to:

  • Setup, operate, and strike speakers, mixers, audio accessories, wired and wireless mic systems, recording systems, and small band setups.
  • Troubleshoot audio systems.
  • Industry best practices
  • Theoretical knowledge on cabling, signal flow, gain structure, feedback, basic equalization, and speaker delay.
